‘Shift in Perspective’ Westspace Gallery Project
This project brief required me to create a project based on a list of adjectives, modelling and designing an immersive experience in Melbourne’s Westspace gallery space. I used the film ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ as a basis to highlight Wes Anderson’s ‘shifts’ in camera cuts. The design places the participants into the warm hues of Anderson’s stop motion world as they shift through the branches, climb the stairs, and angle their heads down to watch the screens displaying clips of the film in the sunken cutouts.
‘Interior Futures’ Renovation Project
Interior Futures explores the contrasting careers of the brief clients. I chose the inhabitants to be an environmental scientist and a game developer. The result was a warehouse space transformed into a single bedroom mezzanine apartment. It featured interior vertical gardens, bamboo interior walls, a greywater tank system, and VR platform space that can be multi used as a living room, seated gaming or explorative VR immersion.
‘Repose’ Furniture Project
Repose was a furniture design project where I experimented with organic forms in Rhino3D and physical model making. The brief required a decorative and functional portable office pod that would serve as a quiet space for stressed workers. The exterior of the pod hosts an array of spines, hinting at the hard shell that some individuals don to keep themselves safe. The interior of the pod, however, featured a smooth spherical interior with plush fleece and a curtain to encase the user into an embrace. The small windows on the back provided a small diffusion of light when the curtain is drawn closed.
Sketchup Apartment
This mini project allowed me to teach myself Sketchup and its beginner features, as the space transformed into a two bedroom into a one bedroom and office space. This projects serves as a template to guide decorative decisions to see how they may suit or fit into the space.
